How long does a boiler installation take?

A straight swap for the same type of boiler usually takes a day. Moving the boiler to a new position, or changing from one boiler type to another, can take two to three days because of the extra pipework. We tell you the timeframe in the quote.

Should I get a combi or a system boiler?

A combi suits smaller homes with one bathroom, because it heats water on demand and needs no tank. A system boiler suits larger homes with more than one bathroom, where several taps or showers may run at once. On the survey we size the right boiler to your home and how you use hot water.

What size boiler do I need?

It depends on the number of radiators, bathrooms and the size of the property, not just the floor area. An undersized boiler struggles to heat the home and an oversized one wastes gas. We work out the correct output on the survey so the boiler is matched to the house.

Do new boilers come with a warranty?

Yes. New boilers come with a manufacturer warranty, often five to ten years depending on the brand, as long as the boiler is serviced annually by a Gas Safe registered engineer. We register the warranty for you and can look after the yearly service.

What are the signs I need a new boiler?

Common signs are a boiler over about twelve to fifteen years old, repeated breakdowns across a season, rising gas bills from poor efficiency, parts becoming hard to source, and a boiler that is slow to heat or needs topping up with pressure often. A yellow flame instead of blue, or frequent leaks, are also warning signs. If you are spending good money on repairs each winter, a new boiler usually pays for itself in lower bills and fewer callouts.

How long does a new boiler last?
